Welfare & Grant Support
Our welfare support services already deliver critical assistance to low-income individuals and families through the Local Welfare Provision, Scottish Welfare Fund and Discretionary Assistance Fund and will support the Crisis and Resilience Fund coming into effect 1 April 2026.
The Scottish Welfare Fund offers Crisis Grants to address urgent expenses, such as food, heating, or costs arising from emergencies like job loss or unexpected crises, and Community Care Grants to provide household essentials like furniture, appliances, or travel tickets, enabling stable and independent living. Complementing this, Local Welfare Provisions, including initiatives like the Household Support Fund, provide discretionary support through cash payments, vouchers, or in-kind goods, such as clothing or white goods, to alleviate financial pressures and promote resilience.
